The City Council of Georgetown created the Commission on Aging Board (COA) to address the needs found in the AdvantAge Initiative Community Survey in 2011. The study identified some unique needs of the Georgetown, TX community due to its rapidly growing population of seniors.

The COA Board discovered the need for dementia-specific adult day programs and services to support the Georgetown community. After generous collaboration with Mr. Steve Howard, a nonprofit advisor from SCORE, A Gift of Time was born.

Today, A Gift of Time is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. It provides programs and services for those living with mild to moderate dementia and for the support of their caregivers. Additionally, it provides education to the community at large.
